Leonard Lavern "Jack" Pruden

Jack was born in Titus County near Quitman, Texas on August 2, 1929. He graduated from Quitman High and attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He received a Master’s Degree in Math, Science and Education. He was married to Jean Anders Pruden in June of 1950. They were married for 67 years.

Jack worked as a teacher, coach and superintendent for 39 years. He enjoyed his family, hunting, square dancing and playing 42. He was active in the Lions Club, Eastern Star and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and 2 grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, David Pruden and wife Shirley of Midland, Texas, son James Pruden and wife Linda of Odessa, Texas and daughter, Patti Ray and husband Michael of Celina, Texas; brothers, Ted Pruden of Cypress, Texas and Raymon “Bo” of Odessa, Texas; sister Arlene Ellis of Winnsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Randy, Marcus, Matthew, Demona, Melanie and Justin; 5 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home 801 Andrews Hwy in Midland, Texas on Friday, December 29, 2017. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Crestview Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Pastor John Gerlach and Jimmy Daniel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the group he played 42 with.
