Joshua Todd Brooks, 27, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012. He was born December 4, 1984 to James Todd Brooks and Nancy Lynn Lamb. He grew up in Midland and was a loving brother, son, and friend. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 2003. He loved soccer and was an outstanding player throughout his youth and was also a loyal fan to the Dallas Cowboys. He was down to earth, witty, smart and had a fondness for old things like trucks and country music. Most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of his brothers and sister.
He knew more than any of the adults in his life and would argue his point until the end. Josh would bet on “anything”, even if it was a bad bet. He feared nothing and often would take up for the underdog. His heart was extremely big and he had the kind of conscience that made him tell on himself, even if it landed him in deep trouble. He was a sensitive and honest man who never forgot to say I’m sorry and make things right again. Josh was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Joshua is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather James Russell Brooks and his maternal grandmother Eula Marie Gann.
Survivors include his father, James Todd Brooks and his step-mom, Dianne Brooks; and his mother, Nancy Lynn Brooks and her fiancé, Charlie Ausley; his brothers: Aaron Scott Brooks, Cody Lane Brooks, and Cheyne Ausley and wife, Charmaine; his sister, Bailey Anne Brooks; his grandmother, Linda Brooks, grandfather, William Lamb of Shelbyville, IL; and Bobby Gann of Midland, TX, grandparents Lane and Beth Fletcher of Hamlin, TX; uncles and aunts: Bill and Rhonda Lamb, Tina and Danny Hobbs, and Tom Lamb and Wayne Lamb; Russell and Cindy Brooks, Mike and Denise Zachry, Amy Fletcher and Scott Dean, Mike Fletcher and Lanie Kulbeth, Mitch Fletcher, and Traci Whatley; numerous cousins and friends.
