John Farrar Hedges, age 60 of Midland, Texas passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024. John was born on June 12, 1964 in Midland. John was a generous, action oriented man who knew what to do in every moment of crisis. John was a loving husband and family man who loved fly fishing in Wyoming, golfing, and cuddling his French Bulldogs, Max and Adele, at every opportunity. He exemplified hard work and perseverance through every facet of his life, turning chaos into laughter.
John and his family moved to Calgary, Alberta in September of 2001 where they would reside for the next 18 years. John had a vast church family at Calgary Church of Christ, participating in weekly service and small group with his family. John relished in the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, floating the Bow River with his fishing buddies, Kim and Quinn and spending summers on the golf course.
John took great pride in his career. He started as a salesman at Wood Group ESP and worked his way up to Vice President Canada and Director of Artificial Lift at Summit ESP. His experience through the years made him a compassionate leader who invested in his employees and coworkers. He was a great boss and strong leader, beloved by those who worked alongside him.
John is survived by his wife, Tyra Hedges and his daughter Ashley Redwine, his sister Adrienne Smith and brother in law Todd Smith and niece, Saige Smith and nephew Cy Smith. John is also preceded in death by his father, Farrar Hedges and mother, Connie Hedges Elkins.
John’s memorial service will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th at 2:00 pm. The family would greatly appreciate donations to the American Heart Association.
