Joe is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Amanda and Brian Nunez of Midland, Texas; and Romelia Avelos of Corpus Christi, Texas. His eight grandchildren include: Nicholas and Allie Montoya, Elijah and Zayden Cadena, Kieuana, Kiyahrra, Meilanii, and Mattoux Avelos. Joe is also survived by his mother Merced Nunez; sisters, Wanda Nunez and Jennifer Mendoza of Midland, Texas; brother Fabian Nunez of Seminole, Texas; aunts Emma Alvarado of Midland, Texas, and Herminia Alvarado and Eva Reyna from Van Horn, Texas; uncles Jesus “Sonny” Pantoja of Midland, Texas; and Efren Pantoja of Van Horn, Texas. Also left to cherish his memories are his half-brothers & half-sister Ricardo, Luis, and Maria Nunez of Marfa, Texas.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
