Jeraldine (Jerry) Forbes passed away on May 17 at the age of 89. Her loving personality, easy conversation and sense of social grace endeared her to her children and her husband of 63 years. She made friends easily and thoroughly enjoyed her role as homemaker. In 1942 this born-and-bred Texas belle caught the eye of a young WW II soldier from Michigan. Clayton and Jerry were married in 1943 after which Clayton shipped out to England. Mom didn't see him again until after the war in 1945. Our Air Force family of five lived from one end of America to the other, including assignments in Bermuda and France. When Dad started work at NASA, they moved to Clear Lake City where they lived for 35 years. Mom was always there for her family and she adjusted to each changing circumstance with aplomb. There can be no more noble legacy than to be a loving and giving wife and mother. We are forever grateful. Mom was a lifelong, faithful Christian. She worshipped at Westside Church of Christ. Jerry was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clayton, in 2006. She is survived by her three children: Sandra Desmond, Fairbanks, AK; Michele Yost, Midland, TX; Doug Forbes, Santa Monica, CA. Her three grandchildren are: Marla Yost, New York City; Paul Yost, Houston, TX; and Katie Yost, Midland, TX. Her great-grandson is Clayton Eberts, Midland, TX.
