Jay Hollis Shaw

Jay Hollis Shaw, 62, of Midland peacefully passed away on March 1, 2023. The celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2pm at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Midland.

Jay was born April 27, 1960 to Jim and Donna Shaw in Midland, Texas. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1978, Jay began a long and illustrious 43-year career with Oncor Electric Delivery. Jay was passionate about playing golf, was a master at dart throwing, and enjoyed playing board games competitively. He was a life-long fan of the Lee Rebels and Texas Longhorn football teams along with his brother and father. He loved spending time with his family at birthday parties, family get-togethers and dinners.

Above all else, Jay was a loving father to his three daughters, and he was “G-Pa” to his six grandchildren who brought such joy to his life. Jay would regularly share everything that his children and grandchildren were doing in life, whether it be through stories recollected, or by video and pictures on his phone. He was so proud to be G-Pa and to be a part of their lives. In the end, Jay truly fought the good fight, and he finished the race.

Jay is survived by his daughters Crystal Tingley (Ben) of Cypress, and Alyssa Shaw of Midland, and his grandchildren Carson, Collin, Barret, Ford, Hope and Austin. He is also survived by his mother Donna Shaw of Midland and his siblings: Aprile Anglin (Charles) of Ft. Worth, Rock Shaw of Midland, and Sherri Heiting (Tom) of Midland. Jay is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews that loved him dearly. Jay is preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Shaw, and his father Jim Shaw.

The family suggests memorials be donated to the Permian Basin Area Foundation for the Jay Shaw Memorial Scholarship in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 4616 North Big Spring Street.
