His family moved to Midland, TX and it was there that James accepted Christ early in his young life. James was a graduate of Midland High School class of 1967. From there, James entered the US Army from 1968-1972, where he served in El Paso, Germany, & Vietnam and retired as a Sergeant 1968-1972.
James met the LOVE of his life while in high school. He went on to marry Gracie B. Strambler on December 3rd 1969, whom he affectionately called, My Honey. From that union two sons were born, Tony James & Jeremy Jerome White. At the time of his passing, James was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church were he was in the Men’s Choir and worked with the Trustee department, Financial team, and the Food Service department. James worked for Mobil Oil for 30 years. He started as a Roustabout and worked his way up to an Oilfield Tech, and then he achieved the position of Supervisor Tech. James loved restoring classic cars, renovating houses, fishing, and anything sports related.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Willie G. & R. T. White, brothers: Willie G. White Jr, Donald White Sr, and Jerry White, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his wife Gracie B. White, his sons: Tony James (Nichole) & Jeremy Jerome (Michelle), grandsons: Xavier White, Zachary White, granddaughter: Lena White, brother: Larry White Sr, sisters: Clara Carter of Dallas, TX, Diane Woods (Harold) of Houston, TX, and Becky White of Midland TX. He is also survived by a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and Friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11 AM at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
