James Alton McCain Sr., 85, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, November, 19, 2013. He was born on May 23, 1928 in Taylor, Texas, the son of Alton and Alva McCain. James graduated from Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas in 1947. He attended Sul Ross State Teachers College in Alpine, Texas from 1947 to 1948. He married Clarece Perkins in 1961.
James began working for his father at Fashion Cleaners in 1948 and became owner in 1962. He was an active member of the Texas Laundry and Dry Cleaners Association until he retired in 2001. He was president of this organization from 1986 to 1987. He was also a member of the International Dry Cleaning Congress. He and his wife were able to travel extensively with this organization.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Clarece; Two sons, Jim and wife Lisa; Philip and wife Staci; grandchildren, Mitchell, Alaina, Carson, Conway; sister, Betty Tull; niece, Candice McPherren; nephew, Douglas Tull.
A Memorial Sservice in honor of James will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Johnson officiating.
