James Allen Holman, Sr.(Jim) was born in Lawson, Missouri, on February 11, 1926, to Clifford Haney Holman and Faithful Gertrude (Lollar) Holman. On October 11, 2022, he went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ.
On November 28, 1945, he married Evelyn Griggs, and they resided in Odessa, Texas. Their son, James, was born in February, 1947.
In 1962 the family moved to Midland, Texas, and they united with Alamo Heights Baptist Church. They were active members, and Jim served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He attended church faithfully until his health began to fail, but his faith in God always remained strong.
Jim managed West Texas Welders Supply until his retirement in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ida, and his grandson, Randy.
He is survived by his son, Dr. James Allen, Jr. and wife Kae and his precious great granddaughter, Katie, all of Midland.
Also mourning his loss are his sister, Leta May Bailey, of Cameron, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and caring man by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at 1:00 pm, also at Ellis Funeral Home, which is located at 4616 N. Big Spring St. in Midland. Officiating will be Robert Murphy, pastor of Alamo Heights Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Rays of Hope of Midland would be appreciated.
