Gloria M. Watson

Gloria was born April 19, 1928 to Daniel and Rosy Richards in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, TX and attended Texas Technical College. She married Joe D. Watson in 1948 in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Midland in 1954 where Joe worked for Midland Savings and Loan Association. Gloria worked as Chief Assistant County Clerk in the Midland County Courthouse. In 1965 they purchased Margaret’s Maternity and Infantwear and remained in business for over 25 years. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include son, Joe D. Watson and wife Connie of Bethesda, MD; daughter, Sue Wood and husband Gary of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Bryan Watson and wife Emily of Seattle, WA; Molly Watson of Washington DC; Kevin Watson of Washington DC; Captain Jonathan Watson, US Army and wife Michelle of Raleigh, NC; Lt. Michael A. Wood, USMC and wife Sarah of Hubert, NC; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Wood of Hubert, NC.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2011 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church with Reverend Thomas Lobaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
