Gloria L Smith

Gloria was born on September 15, 1938. She married Robert Neal Smith on June 15, 1957, and to this union were born four children: Cathy, Connie, Mike and Mark. Gloria dedicated her life to her family, and cherished them and their love for her. She was called MoMo by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed spending extended periods of time with them in their homes and making memories. Next to her love for her family, and a very close second, was her passion for Texas Rangers baseball. She was an avid fan and attended every game she possibly could. She was also a dedicated fan and loyal supporter for Midland’s hometown team, the Cubs, the Angels and now the Rockhounds. She assisted with the team’s contests and events, and happily boasted that she had a box seat to call her own. When she was not involved with her favorite baseball teams, she enjoyed reading and shopping with her girls. She was also an excellent seamstress and made clothes for her children. She was known as a bit of a character, and truly loved living life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert; son Mark; twin brother Gordon; Mom Betty Baker; stepdad DeWitt Baker; and foster parents William and Ida Bochneaur.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are children: Cathy Mantle and husband Neil; Connie Gilbert and husband JT; and Mike Smith and wife Lola; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, March 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, and a graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 11 at Resthaven Memorial Park at 3:00 PM
