Geneva was born in Colgate, Oklahoma, on May 11, 1920. She graduated from Dime Box High School in Texas in 1938.
Geneva Thomas Stanley married Roy Wilson Stanley on August 14, 1939. It was a marriage that was made in heaven and lasted sixty-five and a half years.
Geneva started teaching Sunday school when she was nineteen years old and continued until she was ninety-three years of age. She taught Ladies Bible class for over sixty years. There was nothing she loved more than teaching and spreading the word of our Lord.
Geneva was preceded in death by the Love of her life Roy Wilson Stanley on February 15, 2005; her mother Mary Ada Thomas Mich; her father Charles Henry Thomas; and her brothers, Charles Hugo Thomas, and Clinton Wayne Thomas.
Geneva is survived by her daughters, Linda Lee Stanley Wall, Shirley Blanch Stanley Drake and husband Donald Drake; son, Thomas Wilson Stanley and wife Kathy Sparks Stanley; sisters, Vera Elizabeth Thomas Johnson, and Norma Faye Thomas Prather.
Geneva was a proud grandmother of ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren, with two on the way, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home. The officiating minister will be Brother Blake O’dell from Odessa, Texas. The burial will be held at the Dime Box, Texas cemetery on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chad Stanley, Ryan Stanley, Larry Zachary, Micah Bigby, Matthew Bigby, Wyatt Anderson, John Carl Penewitt, and Shane Petterson.
