Gene was an incredible family man who loved his wife Billie to the ends of the earth. They were married on July 17, 1949. He loved and cared deeply for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Gene was such an intelligent man and was a teacher of many things, to many people. He leaves behind a legacy and is an example of how to live your life to the fullest without any regrets. In addition, he had a profound sense of humor which he held onto until he passed away. We will truly miss his one liner comebacks and witty remarks. He loved working on his daily crossword puzzles and had so much fun when we would all come together to work on one. He never liked the easy ones and always challenged not only himself, but his family too.
He was one of the fortunate people to have a career that he loved and went to work every single day with passion. He retired at 90 years young from Precision Pump and Compressor. He and his partner started the company from the back of a pickup truck and put everything they had into making it a success. Gene designed and built specialty oil field equipment, so you will find his work all over the world. The employees at Precision Pump and Compressor were his extended family and cared for him, as he cared for them.
The family would like to thank everyone who have reached out to share a story about Gene. We know what he meant to our family, but to hear what he meant to so many other people make us realize he is going to live on through others.
Gene is survived by his two children, Diane Montag and spouse James Montag, Ron Odom and spouse Janie Odom; five grandchildren, Seana Beller and spouse Albert Beller, Garrick Towery, Paul Raven and spouse Shannon, Susan Broussard and spouse Donnie, and Tanya Raven; six great grandchildren, Leith Hill and wife Justina, Korie Hoffman and husband Michael, Ry’Ann Evan’s Millie and husband James, Ella Hicks, Jeremy Hicks, and Bailey Raven; six great-great grandchildren, Charlie, Aidan, Emerson, Oliver, Shiloh and Harlow.
Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife Billie McClendon Odom and sweet grandson Paul Raven.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM.
