Ernest R. Smith

He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked in sales for most of his life. He also played guitar and sang for his own bands, one of which was the “Blue Sky Boys.” He loved country music and even hosted his own KJBS radio show where he interviewed country music artists.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Bouneva Smith; daughter, Dawn Carpenter and husband Brad; brother, Raymond Smith; grandsons, Todd Carpenter and wife Laura, and Dylan Carpenter and wife Blair; great grandchildren, Gracelynn, Beckett, Brielle, and Jameson; and stepchildren, Steve Green and wife Melanie, Ronna Green, and Craig Green and wife Patricia.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, June Smith; parents; brother, Lucius Smith; and sister, Rose Russell.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 6 – 8 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Monday, September 16, 2019 at 9 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
