Ena Louis McWilliams Spalding was born June 13, 1926 to Robert P. and Freddie McWilliams in Henderson, Texas. She passed away peacefully to be with her Savior and Shepherd on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the age of 90.
Ena graduated from Gaston High School in Joinerville, Texas. After graduating from high school Ena attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas. where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Ena went on to attend North Texas State University in Denton where she completed her master’s degree. It was during this time that she met her future husband Dan Wesley Spalding. For over 30 years Dan and Ena made their home in Portales, New Mexico teaching and giving many years to students through education. Ena taught 3rd grade for many years in the Portales School System. In 1990, Dan and Ena retired and moved to Midland, Texas.
Ena loved the Lord Jesus Christ and gave her life in service to Him and her family. She was a loving, patient and kind wife and Mother and was always available with her time. She had a heart for others and wanted to share Jesus with them. She was always ready with a smile and a hug. She was an encourager, empathetic, put others before herself and always had a kind and forgiving heart. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ and taught bible class for many years.
Ena was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband of 51 years Dan Wesley Spalding; son Joe Brian Spalding; sisters Carolyn Hill and Sue Schmidt; brothers Jim McWilliams and Buddy McWilliams.
Ena is survived by her sister Helen Tisdale; son Eric Spalding and wife Linda of Kingwood, Texas; daughter Jill Spalding Allen and husband Larry of Andrews, Texas; daughter in law Barbara Spalding of Roswell, New Mexico; grandchildren Sheryl Spalding McCool, Christopher Spalding and wife Amy, Mark Spalding, Robert Spalding and wife Andrea, Jerod Spalding, Staci Spalding Teitelbaum and husband Austin, Lindsey Allen Chesser and husband Brandon, Cassey Allen Lemon and husband Kyle; and eleven great grandchildren Mark McCool, Samuel Spalding, Jack Spalding, Maggie Spalding, Lilly Spalding, Emily Spalding, Cori Teitelbaum, Allison Chesser, Natalie Chesser, Presley Chesser and Eliza Lemon.
Pall Bearers will be Robert Spalding, Jerod Spalding, Austin Teitelbaum, Brandon Chesser, Kyle Lemon, Chris Spalding and Mark Spalding.
There will be a Visitation at Ellis Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 9 at 11 AM with Pastor Bill Billett officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial park.
