January 23, 1949 - December 6, 2023
Donna Hicks Chambers, a vibrant soul cherished by many, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023. Born on January 23, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, Donna grew up in Colleyville and graduated from Keller High School in 1968. Her journey through life was as colorful and dynamic as her personality.
After completing cosmetology school, Donna worked alongside her mother in her beauty parlor, where she not only styled hair but also hearts with her warm presence. She was renowned for her role as a Facebook Messenger Champion, constantly connecting with friends through bible scriptures, humorous and political memes, and her signature “I love Jesus” messages. Her Facebook friends were never short of her virtual love and quirky sense of humor.
Donna’s life took a joyful turn when she moved to Midland in 1990, where she met the love of her life, Gary Chambers. They married on August 8, 1993, and embarked on a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, living in places like Velma, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Bridgeport, Texas, before returning to Midland in 2011. Throughout these years, Donna excelled in her most treasured role as 'Nana,' a title she embraced with all her heart.
Her love for life was evident in her simple pleasures - a cold Coke, the color maroon, the music of Pink Floyd and Kenny G, and cheering for the 49ers (and anyone playing against the Cowboys). Donna often spoke of her eagerness to meet Jesus and express her profound love for him.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bonnie Hicks; her sister, Deborah Hicks; and nephews, Jason and Justin Hicks. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her husband, Gary Chambers; siblings, Butch Hicks and Robin Story; children, Jack Lively (Kristina), Michael Lively (Rachel), Sherry Baze, and Greg Chambers (Suzanne); grandchildren, Megan, Charles, Tori (Joe), Jody (Sara), Lexie (Braydin), Anthony, Gracie (Austin), Kendall (Chase), Brianna, Chase, and Kayden; and 27 great-grandchildren, including the special Kyler Garcia and “nugget” Elliott.
Donna's life was a testament to the joy of loving and being loved. Her memory will continue to inspire and bring smiles to the faces of those who knew her.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at 2pm Friday December 15, 2023, at The First Apostolic Church of Midland, 710 S. Baird Street Midland Texas 79707.
Rest in peace, Donna. Your spirit lives on in the hearts of many.
