Don graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas in 1980. Don was very involved at Crestview Baptist Church in the youth group. He became a Christian and was baptized at the age of 8. He won several awards and held a leadership position in DeMolay International which is an international fraternal organization for young men. He was also an avid swimmer with the Lee High School swim team. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He worked at various jobs in Midland including his most recent job at AT&T where he worked in the fraud division. Don was a member of the Celtic Heritage Society of the Permian Basin.
Don was a quiet, compassionate and loving person. He also loved classic rock and roll music, Texas Tech football, astronomy/space and had a compassion for animals especially his beloved dogs. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and knew how to bring out a hearty laugh at just the right moment. He will truly be missed.
Survivors include: his wife, Lisa Neal; daughter Katlyn Martin and husband Noah of Buffalo, New York; his stepsons Brian Williford and wife Jenn of San Antonio and Chris Johnson of Tyler; his father, Fred Neal; his sister, Carol Nease and husband Charles of San Marcos, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Neal.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10 AM at Ellis Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Teaney officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Youth Fund at Home Line Baptist Church or Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals.
