Dennis Anthony Krawietz, Sr., 78, of Midland, passes away Thursday, February 10, 2011. He was born on October 23, 1932 in Falls City, Texas to parents Dionysious (Dee) Krawietz and Pauline Kowalik Krawietz. He graduated from Falls City High School in 1949, from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio in pre-engineering and from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1954. He married Joan Brame of Houston, TX on June 26, 1954 in Houston, TX. Dennis served in the U.S. Army from 1955 through 1957 and was assigned to the US Army RMD labs in Fort Belvour, VA as a project engineer. He built and ran performance tests on a full-scale high-speed jet aircraft refueling system. Dennis was a long time member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland, TX. He proceeded in death by his parents, son, John Patrick and sister, Patricia Krawietz. Dennis is survived by his sister, Carol Swize and husband C.J. of Pattison, TX; sons, Dennis Jr. and wife Jean Krawietz of Sherman, TX; Kenneth Krawietz of Midland, TX; Thomas and wife Sherry Krawietz of Katy, TX; Paul Krawietz of Dallas, TX; and daughters, Kathryn and husband Steve Widner of Marble Falls, TX; Patricia and husband Doug Hoover of Colorado Springs, CO; Carolyn and husband Russell Freeman of Fairview, TX. Dennis has twelve grandchildren; Stephanie, John, Christy, David, Sarah and Rachel Krawietz; Kalyn and Cory Widner; Austin, Hayden, Reagan and Brady Freeman. Dennis was a cancer survivor for the past 12 years and he died of complications from pneumonia. He was intelligent, generous, humorous, strong-willed, frugal, simple and regimented. Above all he was a man of integrity. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation immediately following. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
