Deanna Slaten Dowdle

She was born on July 22 in Seymore, Texas, to parents Ferris Darr and Allene Lillian Darr.

Through the years she lived in Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas. She spent most of her youth in Bluffdale and Midland Texas. She had many fond memories of her time in Bluffdale. She moved to Midland as an older youth where she happened to be neighbors with Clyde Dowdle.

Many of her adult years were spent as a homemaker raising her four children in Oklahoma and Arizona. She enjoyed horse riding and sewed horse blankets for her children to use with their saddles. She grew large gardens and canned foods. She had a love for beautiful gardens and spent many days planting and tending her flowers and cacti. She had an eye for interior decorating and her home reflected her unique style. She was very fashionable and was always dressed to the “nines”.

She loved to travel and in recent years enjoyed attending Todd’s triathlon in Phoenix, enjoyed an adventurous road trip with Tanya from Oklahoma to Las Vegas, and enjoyed a trip to New York City with Sadona.

Most recently, she moved back to Midland with her husband Clyde and enjoyed reconnecting with her siblings. She enjoyed walks with her sisters and dinners at her brother’s house.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Dowdle of Midland Texas, her children, Tanya Craig (husband David Craig), Shawna Gray (husband Johny Gray), Sadona Miller (husband David Miller), Todd Slaten, (wife Selena Slaten), her brothers, Ferris Delano Darr (wife Barbara), Jeff Darr (wife Robin), Janie Riggs (husband Dale), and Zelma Ruth Crowder. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Pinzon, Jacqueline Keifer, Faith Wills, Jillian Brock, Justin (JJ) Brock, Morgan Miller, Nathan Miller, Jared Slaten, Ruben Martinez, Cedric Slaten, and Mia Slaten. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ferris Darr and Allene Lillian Darr, her husband (father to her children), Wayland Keith Slaten and her granddaughter, Avery Kaye Slaten.
