David was born in Amarillo, Texas on March 16, 1949. He worked in maintenance for Wal-Mart for over five years.
David was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Lenora Pope; and his first wife, Barbara Pope.
He is survived by his second wife, Anna Pope of four years; stepchildren, Trisha Vaughn, Wesley Bagwell, Sandra Barker, Angie Compton, Sabrina Hill, Tamara Brewster, Candace Stroud, and Wesley Evitt; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; six sisters, Billie Nokes, Claudine Pope, Destny Love Joy, Emma DeRamins, B.J. Bailey, and Violet Chaves; brother in law, Lonnie McBride; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Jesus Name United Pentecostal Church, 3110 W County Rd 116, Midland, TX 79706. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
