Darlene Herndon

Darlene was born in Ackerly, Texas on August 28, 1933 to Mabel Graves Coon and Bruce Coon. She married Carl Lawrence Herndon on May 1, 1948. They were married for fifty three years.

Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Doyle Coon.

She is survived by her children Donna Jarrett and husband Carroll of Lamesa, Texas, Keith Herndon and Mike Herndon and special lady Wanda Taylor of Midland; seven grandchildren, Lance Jarrett and wife Kim of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Kim Rodgers and husband Bud of Lubbock, Texas, Kevin Jarrett of Lamesa, Kyle Herndon of Midland, Kim Lindsey and husband Scott of Aledo, Texas, Craig Hansen and wife Tiffany and Christopher Hansen both of Midland; sister Judy Roberts of Richland Hills, Texas; sister in law Tammy Coon of Slaton, Texas and eleven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service at the Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa, Texas on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Lance Jarrett, Kevin Jarrett, Mike Herndon, Bud Rodgers, Keith Herndon and Carroll Jarrett. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Terrace West Nursing Facility.

The family thanks all of the nurses and caregivers at Terrace West Nursing Home of Midland where she called home for the past 16 years and where she was known as “Hollywood”.
