He was born in Pecos, TX on May 24, 1948 to the late Simon and Dominga Ybarra. Chris’s family was proud of him getting his GED, and then receiving his EMT later in life. He was married to Edwigen Ybarra on December 24, 1968. They lived together in Midland, TX after relocating from Pecos.
Chris worked in seismo-graphing for 15 years before entering the medical field at Midland Memorial Hospital. He spent 30 years working at the Hospital, 15 of those years in the ER.
Chris was an active member of the Catholic Church. He was deeply devoted to his faith and sharing that with others. He was always willing to help his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Edwigen “Vickie” Ybarra of almost 45 years and 8 children: David and Nancy Matta of Balmorhea, TX; Connie and Armando Tavarez, Eliza and Jose Rodriguea, Francis Ybarra and partner Don Herrera, Dominic and Bridget Ybarra, Felipe and Marisela Ybarra of Midland, TX; April and Clifford Light of Barstow, CA; Christopher Ybarra of Dallas, TX; his 28 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers; Pete and Ramona Ybarra, Luis Ybarra of Midland, TX; Joe and Lupe Ybarra of San Antonio, TX; Roberto and Monse Ybarra, Nacho and Elida Ybarra of Pecos, TX; His sister, Mary Ybarra of Pecos, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 1:00pm on November 22nd at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
