Chock Williams ran a good race, fought a good fight, and went to his eternal home on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Hospice House in Odessa. He was born on June 16, 1928 in Aubrey, Texas to his parents G.W. “Son” and Rheba Martin Williams and was the 2nd of 11 children. His family moved to Midland in 1931. Chock was a 1944 Midland High School graduate, shortly afterwards he became a butcher, which was his life-long occupation. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Chock married Carolyn Jennings on November 19, 1959. They had a son and a daughter together. He was employed by several businesses including; Barney’s Market, Clark’s Wholesale Meats, and Albertson’s up until his illness. Chock took pride in his work, had a good work ethic and was a loyal employee. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Chock made beautiful crosses and blessed people with them. He also made beautiful furniture and special made everything his daughter needed. Chock’s morning routine was going to Denny’s enjoying time with his coffee drinking buddies. He’ll surely be missed by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles O. Williams, Jr.; his parents; his brothers: Gerald, Joe, John, James, Lynn and Sam; a sister, Doris Lewis; a step-son, Mike Howell and one great granddaughter.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn of the home; his daughter, Charlsa Williams of Midland; his son, Bruce Williams of Crane; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Barbara Simpson of Midland and Patty Gandy of Brownwood; and a brother, Robert (Butch) of Midland.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the Chapel at Ellis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
