Charles Milton “Charky” Van Eman, 66, of Midland and Fort Davis, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013. He was born on November 13, 1946 in San Angelo to Louis Turner Van Eman and Betty Baugh Van Eman. Charky was in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He married Jan Kahl on March 10, 1969 in Cypress, Texas. Charky retired in 2008 as a Real Estate Broker. He was a lifelong Presbyterian. He was a proud graduate of both Texas A&M and UTEP. Charky was a past president of the Davis Mountains Trans-Pecos Heritage Association and the Trans-Texas Heritage Association. He was a former board member of the 12th Man Foundation and was active in the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M as well as a former youth sports coach.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Etta deBerry and his brother Turner.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Jan Van Eman; his children, Bill Van Eman and wife Angela of Bryan, Texas, and Murray Van Eman and husband Jeremiah Birmingham of San Antonio, Texas.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marfa, Texas. Online condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the State of Texas Kidney Foundation, the Davis Mountains Trans-Pecos Heritage Association, or the charity of your choice.
