Charles Gary Garlitz

Charles Gary Garlitz died at his home after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was 89. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 10th at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Midland.

He was born on January 11, 1936 in Ft Worth TX to Charles Frances Garlitz and Lula Inez Ewen. He graduated from Ozona High School in 1954 and attended Midwestern State and TCU where he played football. He married Jane Addison Adams on February 8, 1958. They moved to Midland, TX in 1963 and he started Chesapeake Bay Gas Gathering Company.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Adams Garlitz; son, William Wade Garlitz; and brother, William Gail Garlitz. Gary is survived by his children Christa Garlitz Bolger and husband Barr, Charles Clay Garlitz, and Jane Ann Caroline Garlitz Fogerson and her husband Zeph. Also surviving are his grandchildren, John Barr Bolger II (Jack) and his wife Shelby, Emma Adams Bolger Jones and her husband Blake, Brady Carlisle Bolger and Addison Jane Garlitz. His great grandchildren, John Barr Bolger III (Tripp), Gentry James Bolger, Mary Morrow Bolger and Blake Colburn Jones II (Dos). Other family members are his sister-in-law Camille Adams Jones and husband Brock, his niece Margaret Jones Requimy, his nephew Cullen Parker Garlitz and niece Margaret Garlitz-Salaz (Grete).

The family is deeply grateful for the devoted care and kindness from Emma Rodriquez and Hospice of Midland.

Gary will be remembered for his kind, loving, caring and humorous personality. His pride and joy was his family and being Papa to his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to St. Nicholas Episcopal Church.
