Chuck graduated from Elkhart High School in 1940. He was married to Marzell Raines on May 25 1946 in Palestine, Texas.
At the outbreak of World War II, Chuck joined the Navy as a Seabee. He saw extensive action in the Pacific to include Guam and Okinawa. He was extremely proud of his Military service in the Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he began his career with Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel as a purchasing agent in Dallas. He eventually moved his family to Midland in 1964 where he continued his career with Oilwell as a salesman until his retirement in 1986.
Chuck was an active member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed sharing his love of hunting, fishing and bowling with his son, grandsons, great grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Marzell in August of 2003. He is survived by one son Gary Collier and his wife Julia of Odessa; two grandsons, Ryan Collier and wife Amanda of Odessa, Mark Collier and his wife Nicole of Stanton; two great grandsons, Luke and Jaxson Collier of Odessa, Texas; great granddaughter, Cooper Collier; brother, Duane Collier; sister, Doris Wortham of Van Buren, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church, with Jeff Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for the service are; Gary McQuerry, Kevin Suggs, Guinn Burks, Mark Walters, Kevin McCalman, and Jon Hendricks.
