Carolyn Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, entered Heaven’s gates on May 30, 2017. Carolyn was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 19, 1933.
She was an avid learner and dedicated herself to her education, which allowed her to graduate high school at the young age of 16, later attending Savannah Technical College. She met the love of her life on a visit in Roswell, New Mexico, and married Ronald Houston Jones in 1952. After multiple moves for Ron’s U.S. Navy service, they eventually returned to make their home and life in Roswell. They had four children: Ronald Jr., Nancy, Brenda, and Brian. Carolyn had a long and successful career as an Administrative Assistant in the oil and gas industry. She and Ron lived in Roswell for many years before enjoying a retirement filled with world travels and full time RVing. Their RV travels included all 50 states, the Canadian Providences and the interior of Mexico.
Carolyn was a wonderful mother to her children and was so very loved by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed looking at old photographs, playing cards and games, sharing stories about her life, and visiting with her family. She also enjoyed a good political debate with family and friends on occasion. Carolyn considered her children, grandchildren and great-children her greatest blessing. She remained steadfast in her faith in Jesus Christ, and knew without a doubt the eternal life with her Heavenly Father was the greatest gift she could ever receive.
She fought a valiant battle against ovarian cancer and beat the odds for over five years. While she will be forever missed, her family takes comfort knowing she is now freed from this battle and is reunited with her soulmate, Ron, and her two “Bebe” dogs.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Paul and Louise Bragg; brothers, Paul and Ronald; and many dear friends.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Jr. and wife Coral of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Nancy Isaacs and husband Jay of Midland, Texas; Brenda Kirk and husband Jim of Gallatin, Tennessee; Brian and wife Becky of Superior, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Brenda Perry.
According to her wishes, her remains were cremated and her ashes will be interred with Ron in Rockport Cemetery in Rockport, Texas, where there is a view of the ocean, and where the bluebonnets bloom each spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Midland Memorial Hospital Foundation at 400 Rosalind Redfern Grover Parkway, Midland, Texas 79701 or at www.midland-memorial.com/ways-to-give, to Hospice of Midland at PO Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, Tennessee 38101.
The family wishes to thank Dr. David Watkins and the staff of Texas Oncology, Midland Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit nurses and staff, and Hospice of Midland and their staff.
