Carl “Bill” Franklin Gipson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 7th, 2012. Bill was born in Bristow, Oklahoma, on July 7th, 1923, to William and Violet Gipson. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and served his country for 3 years as a medic. In 1947 he moved to Midland to work for West Texas Gas Company (Pioneer Natural Gas). After 38 years, he retired in 1985. Bill married Wanda Moore in 1982 and had 29 years together before her passing in 2011. Her children and grandchildren knew him as their “Bill". He is survived by his daughters Sherry Ann Goodman and Sherry Lynn Moore; his grandchildren Candace Escobar and husband Earl, Angela Jeppson and husband BJ, Jennifer Coon and husband Christopher, and Heather King and husband Billy. Great grandchildren include Owen, Isabelle, Ella, Annalise, Emma, Ashley, and soon to be born Lilly. Nieces and nephews include Janellan Sartain and husband Sid, Helen Lisle and husband Glen, Sharon Bishop and husband Gary, and John Gipson and wife Jody. His beloved dog "Skipper" will also miss him. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Earl, Bus, and John Gipson. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Tom and Nancy Wolf, Dennis, Gary, and Bob along with the wonderful Meals on Wheels, Home Hospice staff of Midland, and the Hospice House staff of Odessa. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Larry Hood officiating.
