He was a rambunctious little boy and was the type to get into a tad of trouble. He loved pestering his surviving sister, Leora Spann. He is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Crawford, his parents GT and Neta Crawford, by his siblings JD Crawford, Lenora Pike, Oscar Crawford, and Herman Crawford and his great-grandson Tate Crawford.
Carl married the love of his life Sarah Elizabeth on October 8, 1951. Sarah preceded him in death 17 years ago. Sarah met Carl at the gates of heaven and said, “What took you so long good looking?!”
Carl served in the Army and had a medical discharge. He was a Union Iron worker for 50 years. He worked and built on half of the downtown buildings. He became Business Agent for Union Iron workers for 3 terms, 12 years.
Carl loved the Lord with all his heart and would tear up when he spoke to others about how the Lord had saved him. He was a member of Cotton Flat Baptist Church and had served as a deacon. Carl and Sarah served together at the churches they attended.
The last 8 years of his life, he was cared for by “his girls”. They kept him out of as much trouble as they could! The family is so thankful for the care that Maryland, Mistie, Priscilla, Mandy, Karime, Amy, and Dora, gave Carl.
Carl loved telling stories and jokes to everyone he knew and met. Sometimes he shocked us all with what he would say! We will miss his smile and his silly personality.
Carl is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Sally Crawford of Midland; Jerry and Sonya Crawford of Midland; sister Leora Spann of Colorado City, sister-in-law Dorothy Crawford of Midland; grandchildren Chris and Ron Crawford of Midland; Michael and Denise Crawford of Midland; Traci and Monty Brookings of Midland; Rusty and Ashley Crawford of Big Spring; and Ricky and Jordan Crawford of Big Spring. His Great-grandchildren are Skylar and Jadan Williams, Shelby Crawford, Owen and Mason Crawford, Lanie and Kolby Brookings, Landry, Chandler, and Parker Crawford, and great-great grandchild Emersyn Williams.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, May 10th from 6-8 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home.
