He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Diane, who made his retirement years the best of his life. He is also survived by his daughters, Molly Smith of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Sara Jones and her husband, Zach, of Midland; his treasured grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Jones; and his sister, Patti Brauss and her husband, John, of Austin.
Brian had a passion for cooking, traveling, and the many beloved dogs who were always a part of his life. His spirit, humor, and deep love for family, friends, and animals will be remembered fondly.
A proud East Texan for most of his life, Brian found a new chapter after retirement when he was lovingly promoted to “Pop” by his two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua. He cherished his final years in Midland, where he delighted in spending time with “his boys,” often relaxing on the porch and reflecting on the day’s weather—one of his favorite pastimes.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Interim Hospice Care for the compassionate care they provided to Brian over the past several months.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at the Kelview Heights Baptist Church Chapel in Midland, TX. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Border Collie Save and Rescue at www.bcsave.org (notifications for family on form to pbrauss@austin.rr.com) or to Kelview Heights Baptist Church, 402 W. Scharbauer Dr., Midland, TX 79705.
