Bobby Lee Hopkins

Bobby was born on May 21, 1932 as the fourth of 9 children to Barney and Thelma Hopkins, at Carter Nine Oil Camp in Oklahoma. He was raised and attended school in Brownstown, Illinois. He volunteered for the U. S. Army in January 30, 1951 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged on November 2, 1959. Bobby attended the University of Southern Illinois and later moved to Midland, Texas where he worked for ARCO for 35 years. He was married to Carrie Ann Matlock for 35 years. Together, they had two sons: Douglas Dean and John Bob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Thelma Hopkins; his son, Douglas Dean Hopkins; and his wife, Carrie Ann Matlock Hopkins.

Bobby is survived by his son, John Bob Hopkins; and his grandchildren, Shane Thomas Hopkins and Hailey Renee Hopkins.

Bobby requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Ellis Funeral Home.
