Billie Frances Walton Evans was born in Broaddus, Texas on September 14, 1929, to Hollis abd Leola Walton. Billie was raised on the farm and was the oldest of six children. Her mother taught her how to cook wonderful dishes, often using freshly grown vegetables from the garden. Billie attend high school in Orange, Texas, graduating in 1947. She attended Stephen F. Austin University for a year, then went to work in Tyler, Texas. There, She met and married Dexter Evans. Later, She was a legal secretary in the Pentagon Building in Washington D.C.
In 1955, her daughter Nancy was born, and in 1960, her son, Gary followed. Soon afterward, they were transferred to Abilene, Texas, Where she completed her degree at Hardin- Simmons University. She taught first grade at Tye Elementary for many years.
Eventually, she began teaching at Valley View Elementary School in Abilene, retiring in 2001. In 2011, Billie moved to Midland to live with her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Lanny Wilson. She blessed them with her sweet presence until her death on January 6, 2022.
Billie is survived by sisters, Margaret Henson and Grace Hall, Daughter, Nancy Wilson and her husband, Lanny, Son, Gary Evans, and wife, Karen. Grandchildren, Bryan Wilson, Brittany and Jeff Thomas, Kristyn and Angel Rodriguez, Brannock and Nichole Snellgrove, and 11 great-grandchildren. Billie was a wonderful Christian woman whose faith was strong. She is now completely healed and in the arms of Jesus. She will be sorely missed but will live in our hearts forever. A sweeter, dearer lady never lived. Heaven became a happier place upon her arrival there.
