Bill H. McWilliams died May 26, 2011 in Midland, Texas. He was born in Ballinger, Texas on May 28, 1928. He was the youngest of ten children born to Ella Woods McWilliams and R.E. McWilliams. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother. Because Bill’s dad was both a sheriff and a Texas Ranger he grew up in multiple Texas towns including San Angelo, Austin, Big Lake, Midland, Lubbock and Ozona. He graduated from Ozona High in 1945. After completing his freshman year at Texas Tech, he joined the Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged in 1948 in Vallejo, CA. Bill Attended University of Texas at Austin during the summer of l948 and then transferred to San Angelo Jr. College in September, 1948. In January 1949, he transferred to Texas Western College on a football scholarship and graduated with a BS degree majoring in geology and with a minor in math in May, 1951. Bill married Barbara Knight and they moved to Midland, TX in 1951 where he started work as a geologist with Stanolind Oil and Gas Co. He worked for several independent oil companies until 1960 when he became an independent consultant and oil operator. He retired in 1996. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Mike, Toby, and David, daughters in-law Ann, Vicky Beth, Vicky Leah and grandchildren Robyn, Julianna, Daniel and wife Mary Ellen, Steven, Katy, Andrew, Laura, Kyle and Cooper McWilliams, Crystal and husband Russell Page and great grandchildren Gideon, Micaiah, Nathanial, and Silas Billy Page. He is also survived by brothers Dalton and wife Ginny of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ronald and wife Peggy of Loudon, TN and Garrett and wife Maggie McWilliams of Fair Oaks Ranch and numerous nieces and nephews.
