Andrews Highway, Midland, Texas 79701. A celebration of her life will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on
Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00am. Betty was born in Pueblo, Colorado on May 19, 1941, to Lois and
James Huggins, and was reared with her four brothers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she attended Putnam
City High School. After graduating high school she attended Oklahoma Baptist University and then relocated to
Midland in the early 1980s. There she met her husband Perry Whitehead and they united their two families
together in 1986. Betty had a love for photography and especially enjoyed taking pictures of those she loved. She
really had a soft spot for animals and had the ability to light up any room she walked in to with her infectious
laughter. Her favorite thing about growing older was being able to enjoy her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her father Doctor James Huggins and mother Lois Hopper. She is
survived by her husband of 35 years, Perry Whitehead; her four children, Lance James and wife Martha James,
Judy James, Jeff James and wife Tina James, and Kelli James; her four brothers, James Huggins, Richard Huggins,
Ron Huggins, and Don Huggins; her grandchildren Jeremy James, Christal James, Belicia James, Kim Chourio,
Amber Passanisi, Billy James, Harley Hamack, Zane O’Neal, Perla Hernandez, Dakota Capps and Connor
Whitehead; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty will be dearly missed.
