Gus Henry Hopper, Jr., and Betty Jo Cantrell were married on May 18, 1948, in Hobbs, New Mexico. They moved to Midland on December 1, 1977. Betty loved people, especially children, and puppy dogs. She cared for both of her parents and husband during their long fight with cancer. After their passing, Betty devoted her life serving others through her unselfish giving of time and love to help others with Hospice of Midland 1985 to 2000, Crisis Intervention 1998 to 2000 and loved her work as a Foster Grandmother for 1st graders 2000 to 2006. She was chosen Sweetest Person in the Permian Basin in 1999. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. She will long be remembered for her smile and laughter. Life was fun for her and her many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, and son, Robert Allen Hopper (born in Monahans, Texas July 23, 1963, and passed at birth). Left to cherish her memory are her cousins, Ruth Quesenberry of Roswell, New Mexico; and Brince Davis of Gatesville, Texas. She leaves good memories to her many, many friends with whom she celebrated life and love throughout her life’s journey. Family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A celebration of her life will be held at Hospice of Midland Inspiration Center on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 1:30pm.
