Allyn was born on April 4th, 1941 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Marvin and Lillian (Stewart) Evans. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School where he was a member of the A Cappella choir. Allyn married Wanda (Jeanie) Wilde on October 14, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1964, the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Allyn worked for Piccadilly Cafeteria’s advancing to the Assistant Manager position. In 1973, the family moved to Midland, Texas, where Allyn began his 16 year tenure with Witt International followed by twelve years with Heavy Vehicle Parts. After retirement, he worked for Midland Independent School District in Food Services.
He was actively involved in the Westside Senior Citizen Center and a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in the yard, helping neighbors, friends and family, but his favorite activity was attending family events.
Allyn was preceded in death by his parents Marvin & Lillian, sisters: Beulah (Sissy) Young, LuvaGlenn Harmon and niece Shirley Skates.
He is survived by his wife Wanda; sister Jean (Ed) Thompson; daughters Deborah (Robert) Vance, Sheila (Steve) Miller, Diana Young and Laura Reyna; grandchildren Allysen, Courtney, Megan, Jack and Erin Vance; Garrett, Hayden and Collins Miller; Lindsey Evans and Jeffrey Young; Victoria and Alexis Reyna; nephew and nieces Mike Young, Michelle Harrell, and Pam Palma.
Visitation will be held at 6:00p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 3:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Monsignor James Bridges, officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to: Home Hospice of Midland and the Westside Senior Citizen Center.
