Norman proudly served in the United States Air Force and in the Vietnam War. Retiring from the Air Force after 20 years of service. After 20 years, he retired from the Department of Education in New Jersey as a computer technician.
Norman was an avid bowler, he was always striving to reach the perfect game, his highest was 289. He also enjoyed golfing. He loved being on his boat, and enjoyed fishing, clamming and crabbing while he lived in New Jersey. At 7:30 pm each night you could find him watching Jeopardy, he should have been on the show as he knew most of the answers.
Norman loved his family. He was so proud of his grandchildren, they all call him “Pop Pop”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Barry Sherman and nephew, Douglas Ivins.
Norman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet; two children, Norman Kenneth (Tiffani) Ivins and Timothy John (Theresa) Ivins; five grandchildren, Brittani, Kailey, Emilee, Nick and Natalie; great grandchildren, Stevie Jean, Charlotte Jo and Theo Ambrose; brother, William (Tracy) Ivins; brother-in-law, Stuart (Linda) Lovesey; sisters-in-law, Lynda Sherman, Brenda (Tony) McGinty, Josephine (William) Tatman, Sylvia (Martin) Alder and Margaret Lovesey.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin St., Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 4 pm with Dr. Dan Flory officiating.
