Myrna Ann Hardin, age 80, of Middletown, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, just one week shy of her 81st birthday after a fierce battle with lung cancer and lymphoma. She spent her last days surrounded by family, friends and many loved ones. Myrna was born June 2, 1943 in Mayo Florida, the daughter of Allean Pearson Hicks and George Washington Hicks, Jr.
Myrna worked in the banking industry for nearly 30 years serving in various roles including teller, branch manager and mortgage loan originator, first for Middletown Federal Savings and Loan and then at First Financial Bank. A long-time member of Grace Baptist Church and avid lover of music, she spent over 25 years reaching others with God’s message of love, eternal salvation and heaven, singing lead for the Lamplighters Gospel Quartet.
The legacy she leaves is the love she showered on others, always having room in her life not only for her family but also for those that needed her - as a surrogate mother, wise counselor and constant, loyal friend. She loved to talk about being a member of the “Mayo Yayas”, a group of friends she had, her entire life. She often commented that they were the longest relationships in her life -- friendships that have stayed strong, spanning 75 years!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Roger Hardin in 1995. Being widowed early, she was often asked about finding companionship and maybe even another partner. She replied, “why would I do that when I had the best? He was the love of my life - anything else will just fall short!” Also preceding her in death were her daughter Angela Boose Cook (2016) and grandson, Devin Lee Boose (2024).
Myrna leaves a family that was at the center of everything she did. She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her daughter, Christina (Tim) Turner and son, Randall (Melinda) Hardin, her grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Roberts, Ashley (Chris) Harris, Kaitlin Jordan (Mitchell Hogue), Allyson (Gabriel) Rojas, Hailey, Hannah and Madison Hardin. She also had the extra serving of joy that comes with great grandchildren - Kameron Turner, Kai Roberts, Mia Roberts, Christopher Harris, Adira Jordan, Cole Harris and Desmond Rojas. She is also survived by her siblings Jerry (Donece) Hicks, Jean (Troney) Lewis and Michael (Joyce) Hicks as well as many nieces, nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29 starting at 4 p with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in the future, at the family’s convenience.
