While working as an expeditor for General Motors she met a handsome Truck and Bus Supervisor named Ron and the rest is history. They quickly blended their families, each with four children, making up their very own “Thompson Bunch”. For the next 38 years they had an amazing marriage filled with love and laughter.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister Charlene enjoyed traveling the country in their many 5th wheels, campers and motorcycles, stopping along the way to sight see and visit with friends and family. She loved gardening, flowers of all kinds, and grew the most beautiful roses and tomatoes. With a penchant for crafting, she learned to make jewelry and was a wonderful knitter. Everyone in the family has at least one Charon original sweater, scarf, hat or beach bag. An avid fisherwoman, Charlene always hooked the biggest fish on the boat much to her delight.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Ronald Eugene Thompson; her wonderful children Lori (Patrick) Ford of Alameda, CA, Vicki (Kenneth) Allport of Sterling Heights, MI, Jeff Theis of Oxford, MI, Tina Miller of Dade City, FL, Scott (Becky) Thompson, Melissa (Mark) Osterman and Tony (Jackie) Thompson all of Monroe, OH; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her brother Chuck “Bud” (Shirley) Hurley and sister Sheila (Dave) Diaczun. Preceding her in death are her parents Charles and Marie and her son Michael Theis.
Visitation will be from 3-4 on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin St. Middleton, OH. Funeral Services will follow at 4pm.
