Elizabeth Jean Melton

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Rae Vogt (Michael); son, Thomas Ray Melton (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Keith Melton (Emily), Tony Emrick (Kala), Pastor Joe McIntosh (Leah), John Melton (Ashley), Jasmine Applegate (Chris), Noah Melton, Lisa Miller (James), Kim Vogt (Angie) and Tricia Moore (Jimmy). She also had 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Thomas Richards and Mildred McKenzie Richards; her husband, Alton Ray Melton, and her sister and brother-in-law, Ada Rose and Don Sly.

Elizabeth was born on January 1, 1933 in Bonnie Blue, Virginia. She graduated from Berea High School and went on to attend Berea College until she married Alton Ray Melton on January 29, 1951. She loved to serve her Lord and was involved in church planting all of her life. She was a charter member of Trenton First Baptist Church, Trenton, OH, Miltonville Baptist Church, Miltonville, OH and Liberty Baptist Church, Springboro, OH. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church through the 90’s and considered Edgewood Baptist her home church and Keith Risner her Pastor throughout her life.

Visitation will be 10-11 am on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 1010 W. State St., Trenton, OH 45067. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Keith Risner officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park. Flowers and condolences can be sent to the church.
