Sara M. Weimer was born in Plainfield, New Jersey; then spent her childhood in Skaneateles, New York with her adopted parents. She longed to live by the ocean and moved to Key West, Florida in 1970 after high school where she found herself at “home”. In Key West she married her first husband and gained “her mother” Ella. They had a special bond that grew stronger over the years and was never broken.
She began her career working for Monroe County, then advanced with a position at the Key West public library. Her ability and aptitude to details led her to a career in medical billing at Vann Orthopedics in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she excelled and worked until her retirement.
While in Key West working at the Pizza Hut part time, she met her husband of 40 years Robert Weimer. They enjoyed a great life living in Key West, Colorado, Virginia Beach, and finally settling in Fleming Island, Florida. They loved to travel to anywhere near the water, especially to Aruba, were they vacationed several times. They appreciated concerts and casinos together although Sara could always be found shopping for a special gift wherever they went.
Her family, especially the grandchildren, were treasured and the light of her life! Her love language was gift giving; she had an uncanny ability to find the perfect present for everyone. She took her time to not only find special gifts but included notes to personalize each one and completed the presentation by wrapping them to perfection, using an entire roll of tape to ensure no peeking could occur!
After many years fighting illnesses and being cared for by her devoted husband and daughter she passed away with her family by her side. She is now pain free and forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Robert D. Weimer; Daughter Stacy M. Jordan (Paul), Dori McDougal (John); Grandchildren: Jennifer Erickson ( Brent), Raymond J. Norris IV (R.J.), Nathan McDougal, and Peyton Jordan; Great-Grandchildren Charlotte and Cooper Erickson and her brother Richard Haff and many nephews and a niece.
A private going home memorial celebration will be held in Key West, Florida later this year.
