A native of Jacksonville, Florida and a true patriot, Raymond honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Other employment included movie theater usher, sign maker, and City of Jacksonville Department of Streets and Drainage where he was awarded multiple awards and commendations, earning his way to the position of Superintendent. He retired after 37 years of dedicated service.
He was a man of integrity, with a heart for helping others when he could. Raymond possessed a fierce loyalty to family and friends. He was thought of as a true "Southern Gentleman". His friends also enjoyed his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and pranks.
Raymond was preceded in death by his Wife of 55 years Marcia Delaney Earley; Parents Jack and Vera Earley, and his Brother Lester Gilstrap.
He is survived by his Sister-In-Law, Joy Sheckels (Jerry); Brother-In-Law Walter Delaney (Shirley); Best Friend of 48 years Barry Nolan (Linda), 4 Nieces: Jerrie Jolly, Jamie Shiflett (Lee), Joy Minix (Randy), and Jeanna Scott (Chris); 5 Great-Nieces and Nephews: Joshua, Jerry, Justin, Jacqueline, and Carson; and 4 God-Children: Stacey Nolan Dingman, Tracey Nolan Hipps, Barry Nolan Jr., and Matthew Deas.
We will miss him deeply but take comfort in knowing he's in the presence of God.
"See you on the other side"
