Born on February 1, 1955, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was predeceased by his parents, John and Irene Nastawa, as well as his brother, Joseph Nastawa. Michael honorably served in the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his dedication to his country. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to the United States Postal Service, where he excelled as a manager.
For 43 wonderful years, Michael was married to Carmen I. Nastawa, and together they created a legacy of raising two sons and five grandchildren, eagerly anticipating the arrival of another grandchild in January 2025. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carmen I. Nastawa, along with his sons and their spouses, Kevin Nastawa and Daryssa, as well as Christopher Nastawa and Michelle. His grandchildren—Gabriella, Dahlia, Daniel, Logan, and Lukas—will hold onto the loving memories they created with him. Michael is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Sobczyk and Lorraine Kenney, as well as his brother, Vincent Nastawa, who will continue to honor his legacy.
In his youth, Michael was passionate about baseball, a love he instilled in his sons, often coaching them and attending their games with great enthusiasm. Above all, Michael was a devoted family man who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In retirement, he cherished the time spent with his family, who equally valued every moment with him. Whether sipping coffee, watching football, or simply enjoying each other's company, Michael found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. His love for his grandchildren was evident in the way he engaged with them—whether swimming, visiting parks, or taking leisurely drives to Wawa, he created lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
Known affectionately as Michael, Mike, Dad, FaFa, and Grandpa, he formed unique and unforgettable connections with everyone he met. Now reunited with his parents, brother, and dear friends, Michael will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones.
