On September 9, 2019, Gloria Jean (Osborne) Alred went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Alred was born November 23, 1925, in Harlan, Kentucky to Charles and Ethel Osborne. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Robert Damon Alred, as well as her brothers and sister, Euna Bennett, Charles Ray Osborne, Herbert Osborne, Donald Osborne, and Bobby Kyle Osborne. Gloria is survived by her sister, Joyce Buell, her three sons, Robert Damon Alred Jr (Barbara), Douglas Wayne Alred (Jane), and David Lee Alred (Glenda). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danielle Olson, Dustin Alred, Russell Alred, Anissa Alred, David Alred Jr, and Ryann Lohman, and her great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kalla, Rhett, Chandler, Kendall, Rhileigh, Ally, Darren and Kaitlee.
Gloria was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with many others in her extended family along with many friends. After she graduated from Wallins Creek High School in Kentucky, she went to Louisville to work in the ammunition factory to help in the war effort. At the end of the war she married the love of her life and began her great adventure of building a wonderful family and being an exquisite homemaker. After moving to Florida she retired from working at the A&P in Orange Park. Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love for her God, her family and her home.
On September 13th, 2019 at 1:00 pm, a Celebration of her life will be conducted at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road in Middleburg, Florida, 32068. Gathering of friends and family will begin at 12:00pm at Holly Hill Funeral Home. Dr. Johnny Thomas will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, (904) 886-3883. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, Florida 32068.
