Barbara Lockhart, age 89, of Interlachen, Florida passed peacefully from this life on December 4, 2021 at home. Barbara was born June 24, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio to Ernest Strow and Beatrice Fitzgerald and was raised by Walter and Pauline Strow of Huntington, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by parents Ernest Strow and Beatrice Fitzgerald; Walter and Pauline Strow; husband Jennings Lockhart of Deltona, Florida; sister Lilian Davis of Huntington, West Virginia; daughter Christy Lockhart of King William, Virginia; and grandson Justin Allen Lockhart of Deltona, Florida.
Barbara is survived by three daughters, Janet and Tammy Lockhart of Interlachen, Florida; Tracy Lockhart of Melrose, Florida; brother Nick Strow of Scottown, Ohio; Mary Lockhart of Lake Worth, Florida; Terry Lockhart of Woodford, Virginia; and nephew Walter Haynes of Ridgeland, South Carolina. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jeremy Mathews, Rebecca Mathews, Christina McClure, Tamara Kirk, Jimmy Tetrault, Matt Kennedy, Teddy Putnam, Emily Putnam, and Josh Lockhart. She has 12 great grand children, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
After graduating from high school in 1949, she married Jennings Lockhart of Huntington, West Virginia. She devoted many years of her life caring for her four daughters, Janet, Christy, Tammy and Tracy as well as building a blended family with Jennings' siblings: Audy, Glen, Sammie, Linda, Mary, Terry and Gary Lockhart.
During her lifetime she served meals to hundreds of school-aged children as a school cafeteria staffer.
In addition, she owned and managed a restaurant in Herndon, Virginia. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, cake decorating, crocheting, playing board games and many hours of Solitaire. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved singing and playing the organ. Her favorite hobby, by far, was playing casino slots. She always had an open door and a meal for friends and family.
She was a devoted fan of both the Florida Gators and Green Bay Packers.
A graveside service will be held 11AM, Monday, February 21, 2022 at Holly Hill Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg, FL.
