passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013. He was born in Middletown, Ohio in 1941 the son of Frank and Gladys Thompson. After the death of his father, his mother married Dr. Jean A Nock who lovingly adopted him. Bill graduated from Culver Military Academy. He attended Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and became a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Bill graduated in engineering from the University of Cincinnati and also received his MBA from the university. Proudly, he later earned his professional engineering registration from the State of Ohio. He was lecturer at the University of Cincinnati, part time, teaching instrumentation, strength of materials, and other courses. For more than twenty years he worked as a plant engineer at Formica Corporation in Evendale, Ohio. He happily moved south to take an engineering position at Rust Engineering in Birmingham which later became Washington Group from which he retired. An enthusiastic traveler, Bill and his wife traveled in Russia, China, and throughout most of Europe. Bill was an avid woodworker and created some beautiful pieces of furniture for his home. He was also an enthusiastic photographer and a private pilot. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Melinda Wilson Nock; son Timothy (Andrea); daughter Tamara (Robert) Karika and two granddaughters Alexandria, at the U.S. Naval Academy and Christina of Pennsylvania; sister Jane Wynn of Columbus and brother Jean (Patsy)Nock Jr. He is predeceased by a sister Judith Pedlar. Friends and family may visit from 10am-12pm on Tuesday, August 6 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, 508 East Linden Ave. Miamisburg, Ohio 45342, followed by the funeral service at 12pm on Tuesday with Pastor Joe Getts officiating.
