Age 91, a long-time resident of Miamisburg, OH passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 14, 1922 in Paint Lick, Kentucky to the late Louis Edward and Ora Mae (Lake) Crutcher. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Marie Pingleton (2006); brothers, Robert, Leo, Cecil, Floyd and sisters, Pearl and Rosalee. He is survived by his children, Charles L. Crutcher (Elaine) of Washington Court House, OH, Norma J. Wolff (Jim) of Miamisburg, OH, Ronald K. Crutcher (Anne) of Bellingham, WA, Virgil Ray Crutcher of Dayton, OH, Linda C. Nianouris (Gary) of Centerville, OH and Virginia “Ginny” C. Smith (Dean) of Lewisburg, OH; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. Virgil joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1938 as a 16-year old boy. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle Washington before serving as an airplane mechanic in the US Army from 1942-1946 during WWII. He worked at Delco Moraine, Frigidaire, Air Reduction, NCR and later retired from DAP Inc. in 1984. Virgil was a devoted caregiver to his wife, loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed growing and sharing his tomatoes. Family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00PM Monday, December 23, 2013 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM also at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Ed Winkle. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg with military honors performed by the American Legion Post 165. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice at 3131 S.
