He served his country honorably with the United States Army and retired after twenty-two years at the rank Sergeant First Class (SFC). Upon retiring from the United States Army he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida in History and Social Sciences and his Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton in Special Education. He retired from the Montgomery County Educational Service Center where he was a special education teacher for over twenty years.
He is survived by three sons; David Michael Meers, Norman James Meers and Jay Tyler Meers; two grandchildren; Noah Scott Meers and Christopher Tyler Meers and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Justin Scott Meers, daughter Katrina Layne Meers and one brother.
The service will be held at the VFW Post #9927 Pavilion, 3316 Wilmington Pike, Dayton. The service will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday May 22, with a celebration of Mike’s life immediately following until 5:30 p.m.
