Robert E. Jones

Robert Eugene Jones, 88, of Miamisburg, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 28, 1930, to Earl Jones and Margaret (Hagans) Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles, and a son, Robert Michael “Robbie” Jones.

Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy (Banks) Jones and by his children Earl (Jane) Jones of Springboro, Ohio; Cheryl (Richard) Hilliard of Canal Winchester, Ohio; Randall Jones of South Bend, Indiana; and Angela (Andrew) Fuleki of Baltimore, Ohio. Bob was beloved “Papaw” to 9 grandchildren: Jayson Hatfield, LeAndrea Miller, Elizabeth Jones, Brock (Chelsea) Hilliard, Evan (Christine) Jones, Rachel (Douglas) Hamann, Zachary Fuleki, Lauren Fuleki, and Brooke Fuleki; and to 14 great-grandchildren: Benjamin Hatfield, Alexandria Tucker, Lawson Miller, Cameron Miller, Lincoln Miller, Rylan Miller, Audrey Hilliard, Cecilia Jones, Autumn Hatfield, Andrew Jones, Dorothy Hilliard, June Hilliard, Felicity Jones, Reuben Hamann, and “Baby Girl” Hamann on her way. He is also survived by a nephew David (Brenda) Jones, and other family and friends.

Bob was graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and began his career with General Motors as a tool maker at the Inland Division. He joined the management team at the Dayton location and then in Vandalia, until his retirement in 1987.

Bob, in his ever-enthusiastic way, always said he had the best life he could ever imagine and he had the best wife, the best kids, the best grandkids, and the best great-grandkids. More than words can convey, they have been profoundly influenced by this incredible patriarch, and will miss him and his abundant love and guidance deeply.

The family will receive visitors at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore in Miamisburg on Sunday, September 16, from 5-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at The First Baptist Church of Miamisburg, Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Spurgin officiating. Burial will be at Dayton Memorial Park.
