Age 78 of Miamisburg passed away, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born at home on January 24, 1936 in Powell, TN to the late, Paul Eugene and Edna Frances (Haynes) Lindsey Sr. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby “Frances” Hackney. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Linda (Benson) Lindsey; his children, David, Michael, Mary, Ty and Sean; several grandchildren; siblings, Donald Lee (Sandy) Lindsey and Joyce (John) Smith, both of Powell, TN as well as other loved ones and close friends. Gene was a 1955 graduate of Powell High School. The majority of his working career was spent as a substation electrician for Dayton Power and Light before he retired in 1992 after 36 years. It seems understated to say that Gene was a football fan, for in fact it is what defined him. He was devoted to family which included the Tennessee Volunteers and was always ready for the comradery of a good game. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, 508 E. Linden St, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Woodhaven Funeral Home, Powell, TN with burial to follow on-site at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45420, in memory of Gene.
